There are also plenty of cute tables where you can sit and savor your selection plus some quirky outdoor decorations. 

#2: City Center Park

City Center Park is another recreational area that is ideal for escaping the worst of the heat. It has some areas where you can work up a sweat, like the walking trails or basketball courts, but it also has a splash pad. The splash pad will remain open for the rest of the summer. There’s a nearby shelter you can rent in case you want to host a cookout before summer is officially over, too. 

#3: Freedom Park

Freedom Park has classic amenities like a playground, walking trail, sports fields and courts, but during the summer, it’s also right by Freedom Springs Aquatics Park. You can enjoy water slides, a lazy river, and other fun water activities. It has areas designated for infants and toddlers also, so the whole family can find something to do. 

#4: Greenwood Fieldhouse

This is a great place to come during any season because it’s all housed indoors. The Greenwood Fieldhouse does require an entrance fee, but there are day passes for a reasonable $5 or $6 depending on age, children under 3 are free, and residents are able to purchase punch cards, monthly passes, or annual passes. Inside the fieldhouse, you can enjoy an indoor track, turf fields, golf simulators, batting cages, and much more. 

#5 Greenwood Park Mall

You can enjoy relief from the sun, steady air conditioning, and excellent shopping at Greenwood Park Mall. You’ll find familiar retail favorites to choose from and plenty of food, snacks, and drinks to sample. You could stop by stores like American Eagle, Barnes & Noble, Coach, GameStop, JCPenney, and many more.
